Tres Generaciones Añejo Tequila

I'm not generally a tequila drinker, far from it. After spending my youth downing shots of Hornitos or Patron to a popular song, tequila can make me feel a little sick. However, some people I know insisted I try some quality Añejos before giving up on the spirit entirely. The one mentioned most often? Tres Generaciones Añejo. I'm a dedicated whiskey enthusiast who loves talking about and having whiskey at every social event. When compared to the woody, charred intensity of whiskey, this tequila sips almost cool. It brings to mind the earth, with very vegetal and earthy notes. I might detect some mint, or perhaps it just seems that way because I'm so accustomed to whiskey. The flavor is quite delicate and, dare I say, refreshing? I'm not convinced to switch, I'll stick to my single malts and bourbons. But if I'm out with friends, I wouldn't mind ordering a neat glass of this. It's quite pleasant!

Let it rest for five minutes. Opening the bottle. Appearance: Light yellow, legs disappear fast, seems diluted when stirred; Smell: Immediate agave, hints of sugary sweetness, vanilla, a touch of citrus zest, a little leather; Taste: Some heat that yields to sweetness at the back, some mint leaves, very smooth, peppery bits at the rear of the mouth; Finish: Short, a little butter at the end, more like typical tequila.

My first experience with an añejo tequila was many years ago with this bottle. I recall it tasting like brandy and being superior to most tequilas I had tried up to that point. A relative shared it with me when I was very young. That relative, a skilled cook with extensive knowledge of wine, influenced my upbringing. I plan to offer a more thorough review after purchasing another bottle.

A rich aroma, less sweet but more floral. This anejo lacks upfront sweetness, but it is smooth with minerality, some oak, and a mild peppery flavor. Floral notes are also present. It's quite distinct and in a pleasant way. I just prefer more sweetness, but it's very easy to drink.

Agave and citrus aromas right away. The palate offers more sweet agave before a sharp conclusion. Not as much pepper as many tequilas, but the flavor is quite direct. A good drink but not a great deal.

It's not Adictivo, which I can't get in Washington, but it's acceptable. A pleasant sipper with a smoky aroma, bold pepper on the tongue, and easy to drink.
