I would not consume this again, though I could finish it. Features a strong peat character. Perhaps a hint of brandy or tequila? Not to my liking.

About this bottle
Catoctin Creek produces a limited quantity of experimental spirits annually. This particular expression is their Roundstone Rye (a 100% rye mashbill aged for just under two years in new Minnesota white oak) presented at cask strength. It was subsequently finished in barrels previously used for their 1757 Virginia Brandy. This spirit is certified organic and kosher, and its proof varies.

The brandy cask finishing imparts a strong rum character. Intense maple-like notes and a fiery bite without being harsh.
Lacks balance. Thin and predominantly alcohol-forward.
Reminds me of apple butter on rye toast.
It was decent. Not my preferred choice.
2.5. Harsh, syrupy finish.
