About this bottle

The Calumet Farm Bourbon, now discontinued, originates from marketing stories of its owner, who established a horse breeding farm in 1924. This farm achieved notable success, winning eight Kentucky Derbies and two Triple Crowns over time. However, the whiskey itself is actually sourced from an unnamed distillery and presented in distinctive packaging.

Julianna Tavares 2.5

NOSE Caramel, oak, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, a hint of citrus, biscuity and fruity. Light. This is incredibly light. It's so light and unremarkable that it embodies the definition of average. PALATE Caramel, oak, vanilla frosting, biscuity, copper, a hint of fruit and baking spice. Indeed, the palate of the Calumet Farm Bourbon continues the light theme and offers little else. FINISH Medium -> Oak, caramel, fruit and spice fade out evenly.

I had been curious about this type of spirit for some time, though not this exact brand. It could be used for more than just mixed drinks, but it's borderline. Vanilla was noticeable upfront but quickly faded to a slightly tart finish. I may explore other brands but probably won't purchase this one again.

Compared to other bourbons, I find the flavor of this one more appealing. I would certainly not purchase it, though. Adding a bit of water really opens it up. However, considering the cost, there are many other bourbons that are much more appealing.

Julianna Ross 3.3

Green apple on the nose, very full on the palate with a sweet caramel taste. A slight alcohol burn on the finish. Overall, it's mild and very good, but the price tag didn't impress me.

Pierre Trinidad 5.0

An outstanding bourbon, my preferred one so far. The initial aroma was not very impressive, but it develops into a refined, subtle, and floral scent. The palate is very smooth and generally satisfying. The mouthfeel is mild.

I found this quite unenjoyable. To get rid of it, we included it in an blind tasting at a gathering and most of our attendees ranked it among the least favorite.
