Jack Daniel's Tennessee Tasters' Selection Reunion Barrel #1

This is a series of limited edition, experimental spirits. Each bottling is sold exclusively at the distillery and also in select local liquor stores. This particular release is aged in barrels that were first used for this brand's standard spirit, then for a locally produced wine, and returned to the distillery for finishing. Selected by the head distiller and master taster. The aroma is of wine, vanilla, and butterscotch. The taste is a significant departure from the standard spirit and is sweet, with flavors of cookie dough and a hint of charred barrel. The red wine notes return in the finish along with wood. While the taste is a distinct departure from the brand's flagship spirit, this bottling is a bit overpriced and not as unique a taste as the cost suggests.

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Tasters’ Selection offers limited runs of experimental whiskeys, with 24,000 bottles each. These are available only at the distillery and some Tennessee shops. Reunion Barrel is Jack Daniel’s finished in barrels previously used for Jack, then for a Tennessee wine, and finally back at the distillery. The Master Distiller and Master Taster chose it. It smells like wine, vanilla, and butterscotch. The taste is very different from Old Number 7, offering sweetness and a cookie dough flavor with a touch of barrel char. The red wine notes reappear in the finish with wood. While it’s a noticeable change from Jack’s main whiskey, Reunion Barrel costs too much and isn't as special as the price implies.

Again, it's definitely always worth trying a JD “craft” whiskey because they excel at producing distinctive bottles. This one lives up to its name – a bourbon with some dried grape / red wine notes on the finish. It's decent stuff, but not the best of the recent offerings. I utilize the rating scale below. A scale of 5 is used by a major spirits publication, and I use a scale of 10, but I'm sure you're not too inebriated to figure it out! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect

This unique Tennessee whiskey displays a bronze hue with light, somewhat viscous legs. On the nose, it's intensely fruity, offering hints of rosé, hard cider, stone fruit, grape skins, wildflower honey, baked bread, vanilla, and a touch of alcohol. The palate is delicate and fruity with a thin consistency, featuring flavors of apple, unripe grapes, banana bread, creamy chocolate, and dry oak. The finish is gentle, fruity, and lingers, receding gradually. A delightful experiment from the Jack Daniel's operation. While not the pinnacle of spirits, it was pleasant and offered a more fruit-forward take on their regular bottling. Much appreciated, Jack! Salud!

Slightly spicier than Old No. 7. Notes of oak, vanilla, and cinnamon. It's not bad, but not worth the cost.

Smells like banana bread with walnuts. A respectable offering from this brand.
