Enjoying the final pour from my bottle of Barrell Rye Batch 003, which I bought early this fall. I genuinely savored every pour from this bottle; it's a very high-quality dram, much like most of the Barrell bourbons and ryes I've tried. I find it comparable to Pikesville Rye in that it exhibits characteristics of a high-rye bourbon rather than a classic rye. Would I purchase another bottle? Likely not, as I prefer something like the Willett 4-Year Family Estate Rye over the Barrell when I'm in the mood for a quality glass of rye whiskey, plus I'd save about $30 by skipping the Barrell. My future Barrell rye purchases will focus on the single barrel store picks, which are absolutely outstanding.

Participated in a virtual tasting event that offered complimentary 2 oz samples. Nose - Citrus peel, limoncello, rye spice, grass and grain, butterscotch, moderate alcohol. Palate - Sweet citrus and caramel drizzle, grain, corn dust, vibrant rye. Medium to long finish, coats the mouth, abundant citrus and rye spices, tannic oak on the finish. Exceptional rye, understandably expensive, but it ranks among the best I've sampled. Fortunate to have received a free sample!

Nose - Tangerines, almond extract, and a touch of chocolate. Pleasant. Palate - Vibrant yet well-balanced. Wintergreen freshness, vanilla shortbread, and more citrus. Abundant rye spice and cinnamon candies on the finish. Finish - Spicy with a vanilla oak dryness. It's assertive yet polite and balanced. The proof allows for a wide range of flavors to be discovered. Truly delightful!

The scent presents a subtle blend of dessert and robust, earthy spices, which is enjoyable and intriguing but not excessively strange. It might benefit from more dark, woody characteristics to complement the brighter fruit elements. The taste becomes woodier as it sits, introducing richer caramel and herbaceous spice notes. The ending is a lengthy, sweet dissipation with hints of oak.

Nose: oak and vanilla notes accompanied by rye spice, a hint of cinnamon, and brown sugar. Nothing particularly stands out, but it's nicely integrated. Palate: Damn, this is fantastic. Spicy rye, cinnamon candy, wintergreen, butterscotch, and some citrus. The layers are impressive, but the harmony is truly exceptional. Absolutely justifies the cost.

Barrell Rye Batch 3 Cask Strength Nose: Oak, Bubble Gum, Mild Spices Taste: Red hots, Orange Brandy, Oak Finish: Orange Brandy and Red Hots return and fade pleasingly. It's a touch spicier than my preference, but it harmonizes beautifully with the other flavors.
