This expression is described by the brand as a "triple-terroir" product, featuring rye grain, water, and oak all sourced from their Vermont farm distillery, which commenced operations in 2015. Farmstock Crop No. 001 contains 20% of WhistlePig's own triple-terroir whiskey, aged for at least one year in Vermont oak. It also includes 49% of a 5-year-old rye whiskey from Alberta Distillers, which was also aged in Vermont oak, and 31% of a 12-year-old rye from MGP in Indiana. The blend is bottled at 43% ABV.

Nose: Notes of vanilla and some caramel, with a spicy aroma and moderate alcohol content. It smells sweet, but not excessively so. Palate: A clean burn, distinct rye spice, and deep flavor. No unpleasant aftertaste. Finish: Slightly medicinal, smooth, leaving a lingering medicinal sensation. It improves significantly as you continue drinking it.
I can't agree with other opinions. Three stars is the highest I'll go, especially for the cost. It's a typical, overpriced Canadian whiskey. The only distinguishing feature is its rye base with added ingredients, unlike standard Canadian whiskies with additives. It's not bad, just not remarkable. Try to convince me otherwise.
This is a passable rye, it has some spice—but the cost isn't justified. I have a dozen other ryes in my collection that are superior, and they all cost half as much. If you're set on having Whistlepig, aim higher and get the Old World Cask (or Boss Hog).
I truly liked the WP 10yr and 12yr Old World Cask. I anticipated a comparable quality from the farmstock but was greatly let down. It tasted extremely young, and I can think of 10 ryes under $40 that are better. This was genuinely my worst whiskey purchase of the year.
Rye is my preference, and this blend with a fine cigar is excellent. Oak notes are present, alongside pine, citrus, and spice, culminating in an unexpectedly sweet and mellow finish. It's perfect for savoring the sunset over the sea after a good workout.
The aroma is quite sweet, presenting notes of creamy vanilla, wheat, and a hint of orange zest, along with some oak. The palate offers creamy vanilla, cinnamon, rye, pepper, and abundant grassy undertones. A lengthy, grassy conclusion. Remarkably smooth for a rye. This is indeed batch number three.
