Bainbridge Battle Point Two Islands Hokkaido Mizunara Cask

The gentle aroma transports me to a mild island on the Pacific Coast. The mizunara oak is dominant, with traces of raspberry, pine, and the salty sea breeze. Mizunara often brings tequila smoke to mind. Here, it uniquely enhances the wheat's sweetness, leading to a caramel and candy apple finish. Outstanding.

Tasted neat: Smells like gentle banana cream and aged leather oak. Taste has vanilla, banana, oats, spicy oak and wood texture. Ending is short but meaningful with more vanilla and banana cream, then a fast hit of cinnamon.

The aroma is deep and complex, with a subtle sweetness. The flavor is intensely bold, a mix of molasses and barrel char, with heavy oak notes. I appreciate its strength, and the richness balances the burn. It's one of those potent whiskies that I really enjoy.

My favorite Wheat Whiskey, improved further with a finish in Mizunara Oak. It doesn't quite match the smoothness of their Yama, but this possesses an incredible, layered flavor. Truly well-balanced.
