About this bottle

The 2021 Parker's Heritage release from Heaven Hill, its 15th edition, continues the brand's heavy char series. This wheat whiskey is made from 75 barrels that underwent a 90-second char (Level 5), significantly longer than the standard 40-second char (Level 3) used by Heaven Hill. The mash bill for this wheat whiskey is 51% wheat, 37% corn, and 12% malted barley. It was aged for 11 years on the sixth floor of Rickhouse Y. Bottled at 61% ABV, the whiskey became available in September 2021. As with prior releases, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association.

Nose: At first, I detected dust, like sawdust, making me wonder if my glass was dusty. It wasn't; it was just the initial impression. Chocolate, caramel, mint, oak, smoky. Malty. Body: Medium to full. Taste: Minty, chocolaty, vanilla. Finish: Long, sweet, and smoky, with a pleasant warming sensation. Note: Another sample from a tasting with a friend. I'd consider buying another bottle. Tasted neat. The first taste was very full-bodied. I was surprised by its robust character. Very delicious. I enjoyed this immensely.

Aroma Oak, dark fruit leaning heavily on cherry, toasted nuts, spice, with subtle earthy and biscuity undertones. The oak is very prominent in the aroma, but not to the extent of being one-dimensional. Taste Oak, dark fruit with a strong cherry presence, roasted peanuts, cinnamon-forward spice, leather, pepper, clove, and hints of cornbread and vanilla taffy. More complex and slightly less oak-forward than the aroma. Still, undoubtedly an oak-dominant profile. Finish Log -> Oak, dark fruit, and peanuts fade into spiced oak.

Aroma: Wonderful creamy wheat cereal, with abundant vanilla and caramel. Taste: Among the best wheat tastes experienced in the past year. Primarily vanilla, with a hint of allspice and apple. Finish: The only drawback is a somewhat short finish. Vanilla and spice notes alternate. Minimal barrel influence detected. Definitely not over-charred. Generally on the sweeter side. Highly enjoyable.

Damn!!!! Remarkably smooth for its higher proof. Great mid-palate spice with a finish that transforms into pure bliss. The best way to describe the finish is like taking a spoonful of crème brûlée right after it's been caramelized. I never thought I'd say it, but it might have a better torched/charred finish than Michter's.

Wow! I really enjoy the smoky, sweet flavor of this whiskey. Nose: Smoked. Candy. Taste: A sweet, smoky, fruity flavor. Finish: The smoke is present in the finish. Delicious. The 122 proof is not noticeable.

This is my 13th tasting from this line, with only the first three releases missing. Overall, I'm underwhelmed; this bottle is flat, hot, and lacks complexity. It's by no means a bad whiskey, but it's certainly not top-tier.
