Bain's 15 year single grain whisky special release

The best single grain whisky I've ever experienced. Full stop. And it originates from South Africa. Actually, one year ago, Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky standard single grain was the winner at the World Whiskies Awards 2018. This is the 15-year-old variation of that which was previously a 5-year-old dram. Bottled at 52.5% ABV. On the nose, it's quite remarkable. As soon as the cork is removed, rum and molasses appear. Vanilla, typical grainy herbal notes; vanilla cookies. Spiciness. Hard marshmallow (melcocha). Danish cookies (the ones in a metal tin). Vanilla ice cream. Very sweet, as you can tell. On the palate, it earns a perfect score. Dulce de leche, toffee, vanilla; very pleasant and creamy. The grainy aftertaste is spicy and full of vanilla. Excellent for a grain whisky. Overall, this is the most satisfying, sweet grain whisky I've encountered. Highly recommended. 94 out of 100. Cheers!

I purchased this bottle while visiting South Africa. The country isn't exactly renowned for its whisky, but I was quite surprised. The spirit had a pleasing pale gold color and a briny aroma. The flavor was slightly astringent, softening to mild oak and fruit. Overall, I was very pleased.
