Thomas Hinojosa 4.0

Four Irish whiskeys were sampled over a weekend. This single cask from the Irish Whisky Society, bottled in 2015 from cask no. 21885 (produced 1997-2015, bottle 75/114), presented a nose reminiscent of coconut – truly! – like roasted and caramelized coconut flakes, followed by plums, vanilla, sweet white grapes, and a hint of banana. The aroma was very fruity and sweet, with the cask strength alcohol content not being apparent. The palate offered immediate sweetness, then dried fruits (predominantly exotic) and a very creamy smoothness, well-balanced by the alcohol level. Despite its age (18 years) and high proof, it surprisingly lacked any bitterness. The finish was long and sweet, with a subtle, pleasant gingery warmth on the tongue.

Corey Hanson 4.8

Likely the finest cask strength I've sampled to date. Intense coconut finish, a pleasant finish. Effortless to consume. Outstanding!!
