Avión Añejo Tequila

This is quite different from my usual choices. I had it years ago and discovered it had been discontinued, prompting me to acquire a bottle before it was no longer available. Let's try it. Aroma: Floral notes with a prominent vanilla presence. Grapefruit and lemon. Agave. Green bell pepper. Pear. Peach. Palate: Cactus and agave. Vanilla. Mango. Vanilla. Coconut. Green bell pepper. Toffee. Peach tea. Finish: Agave and cactus. Green bell pepper. Mango. Vanilla and toffee. Peach. Relatively brief. Tequila is certainly not my primary spirit category. It's my second choice after the broad category of whisk(e)y, yet tequila constitutes less than 0.1% of my spirit consumption. As a novice in this area, I'd say this is quite good. Approachable. It presents standard tequila characteristics with a few nuances that make it stand out. I typically favor bolder, higher-proof whiskies with unusual barrel aging or peat influence, but with tequila, I prefer a subtle and balanced profile. This experience delivers exactly that. At $53, it's definitely worth the cost. It's unfortunate that it's been discontinued, so hopefully, I can find one more before it's gone. Rating: 3.75/5. Solid.

Allowed to rest for about 5 minutes. Appearance: Very pale golden hay color with glistening streaks; the legs dissipate quickly; Smell: Syrupy sweetness upfront, not the typical agave scent, with notes of vanilla, roasted pineapple, and hints of dark chocolate; Taste: Very light on the palate and oily, with notes of pineapple juice and tropical fruit, along with chocolate; Finish: Does not linger, beautiful sweet notes throughout; this is a very good tequila!

An intense Agave Spirit from Mexico, aged for at least 1 year in oak barrels. It possesses an aromatic beginning with hints of roasted agave, wood, earth, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; its rich life adds notes of cherry, peach, caramel, vanilla & maple; leading to a long & bold conclusion with notes of oak, coconut, mint & rosemary. April 2017 / December 2019

Begins sugary, then a spicy alcohol sting (warmth). The heat sticks around, making one perspire slightly. Concludes with sweetness on the lips. Pleasant. Silky. Delicious. Not excessively sweet or spicy. Smells delightful. Sugary and like caramel. I enjoy this one.

Starts sweet, followed by a warm peppery alcohol sensation. The heat persists, causing a slight sweat. The finish leaves a sweet sensation on the lips. Good. Smooth. Tastes pleasant. Not excessively sweet or spicy. Smells very nice. Sweet and caramel-like. I enjoy this one.

Incredibly smooth, almost dangerously so. It has a noticeable bite, but it's well-integrated and balanced within the delicate flavors. It's a great value for its mid-range price.
