Abraham Bowman Port Finished Bourbon (2013 Release)

For a big, bold spirit, Abraham Bowman is the one to choose. Created in 1994 and bottled in 2012, this is technically around 18 years old, but that's not its sole appeal. What is? Perhaps the 73.75% ABV, or 147.5 proof? That's right, this spirit will overwhelm your senses and clear your sinuses! However, unlike other spirits with extremely high proof (I'm looking at you, Redemption Barrel Proof), this won't power a vehicle. Unfortunately. What it does offer is incredible smoothness alongside that initial impact. The finish is vibrant and lengthy, and as it settles, notes of oak and vanilla hit you. A superb dram.

I just can’t get past the port finish of this bourbon. It completely spoils it for me. Couldn’t even drink it mixed. Terrible.

The wine barrel aging is evident in the finish, adding a grape-like sweetness, but it's too dry for my preference to score it higher.

Extremely unremarkable. Harsh and underdeveloped for a twelve-year-old.
