51 Cachaça

Alright, I'll admit my experience with rum and cachaça is limited. I can research like anyone else, and while this is a new area for me, I've tasted and analyzed spirits before. I approached cachaça as a type of rum, despite differing opinions. There's an unusual aroma. You know how people say kids can be anything? This spirit seems to have had that said to it and decided to become tequila. (It's not really, but it does have a vegetal quality.) Sweet, lime juice, very overripe oranges (almost spoiled), freshly cut wet grass, vanilla, and a hint of acetone. On the first taste: sweet, thin, with some tartness. It has a vegetal character, like the taste left in your mouth after using a heavy-duty trimmer, bitter like dandelion greens. The finish is mouthwatering, peppery, and vegetal. That green taste persists. It also reminds me of biting into a lime. I've only tried Cachaça 51 besides this, so my evaluation is based solely on my personal taste. 70/100

This is a cachaça I've only had a few of in my life, but 51 really wins me over, I love the sweetness, the aroma, and the character this spirit adds to certain cocktails, and I say certain because not everything is good with cachaça, but overall, very interesting! I really detect this sweetness, notes of lime, and definitely a lot of spice, it's a general mix, like a lemon candy with pepper, or a sweet pepper, anyway...

The scent presents green apple, raspberry, yogurt, grass, and lime zest. It feels oily in the mouth. On tasting, there's more raspberry, green apple, lime peel, and yogurt, with coriander appearing in the fairly brief finish, which also carries some warmth. Rated 2.50/5.00 – It's acceptable when drunk neat.

Evokes Jamaican rum. Highly ester-driven. Notes of banana, tinned tropical fruit, followed by blackberry/cassis. Quite enjoyable.

Nose: sweet, minty, grassy, sharp Palate: smooth, sugary, light Finish: allspice, herbal, slightly salty?, very mild and easy to drink

Tastes like death. However, given its low price and popularity, I don't mind. It performs excellently in Caipirinhas and other mixed drinks.
