I appreciated it as a blend and used it as a mixer. It's not something I'd sip, but it was enjoyable in Piña Coladas. I'm uncertain if the purple bottle is the same, but it's a decent rum for what it costs.

About this bottle
Owney's Original NYC Rum is named after Owen Madden, a notable rum bootlegger and smuggler in New York during Prohibition. Today, Owney's rum is legally produced from all-natural, non-GMO molasses sourced from Florida and Louisiana. The molasses retains a significant sugar content due to partial refining. The mash ferments for five days before bottling, with no barrel aging. Production occurs at The Noble Experiment Distillery in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
