Color: a lovely deep amber hue, primarily from extended aging in char 3 and 4 barrels. Nose: abundant baking spices and oak, cooked caramel, reminiscent of banana bread minus the banana aroma. Typical vanilla and fruit scents like orange and raisins. A sweet nose, not exceptional but quite respectable. Palate: Oaky and peppery, not very viscous. The finish is decent, especially for a 104 proof. Flavors of all the spices like nutmeg, allspice, etc., are present. The oakiness dampens the sweetness, but it's detectable. It's alright, perhaps requires further tasting. For a double oak, it lacks the sweetness of a Sagamore, Peerless, or 13th Colony. It certainly costs more than it offers; it's a $60 bottle at best, but I suppose a 'Limited Release' series allows for a price increase. Better tasting bottles are available for the price and proof.

About this bottle
The fifth release in 2XO's Icon Series, The Sneakerhead Blend, was created by American whiskey blender Dixon Dedman using a double-barrel technique. For this specific bottling, two distinct bourbon mash bills were employed: one featuring a high-rye content (35%) and another with a moderate rye percentage (18%). Dedman aged the high-rye mash bill in new, charred oak barrels (char levels #3 and #4) for a duration of nine months to one year. This high-rye component constitutes 60% of the final blend. It has been available across the United States since October 2024, with a suggested retail price of $99.99.

Nose: Overloaded with caramel apple pie, baked apples, cinnamon, and a whisper of oak. It evokes a rich, nostalgic feeling, much like a homemade sour cream apple pie. Palate: Rye-forward with notes of cinnamon spice, mild nuttiness, and a touch of mint. Any fruit or bourbon sweetness doesn't carry through. Finish: Medium in length, leaning toward dry with gentle rye spice and a lasting cinnamon warmth.
This improves with every sip. This blend is almost perfect! The aroma, taste, everything. The heat level at 104 proof is just right, and the finish is long and ideal. I love it!
Good flavor, but not outstanding. It has a full body and a pleasant mouthfeel. A little too potent for my preference.
