Wild Turkey Master's Keep Triumph

Received a sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Oak, caramel and vanilla, with some minty notes. Palate: Prominent oak with baking spice and more mint. Finish: Medium heat, but surprisingly long for 104 proof. Splash: No new flavors are revealed, but the oak in the palate is subdued by baking spice and that minty note. Overall: 8/10 - This would be a good or even great rye at under $100. At $275 MSRP, I would expect much more bang for the buck. I am glad that I got to try it without spending that much. (Rating not based on value)

This was the whiskey that introduced me to a certain distillery, so I was eager to try another rye-focused Master's Keep Release. 10 year rye (includes up to 12 year) bottled at 104 proof. Dark caramel in the glass. Lots of wood and drizzled honey on the nose. Some hints of tobacco. Palate is a bit thin. Rye spice isn't extremely pronounced. Some sweetness is balanced by a bit of lemon. Finish is creamy with lots of noticeable charred wood.

Leans toward the floral and softer profile, with a hint of rye spice emerging. Smell: Apples, apricots, pineapples, caramel, cinnamon, almonds, coconut-chocolate bar, strawberries, vanilla wafers. Taste/Aftertaste: Caramel, cinnamon, rosewater, cloves, walnuts, maple syrup, bananas, mint chocolate, dill.

I don't detect an herbal flavor, I get a rich spicy flavor. Like a high rye bourbon. Similar to a certain distillery's single barrel. I might buy another bottle if it wasn't so expensive.

Very pleasant and flavorful. An incredible taste profile.
