This is incredibly overrated and not worth the exorbitant cost. Vaults 15 year from 2023 significantly outperforms it in blind tastings. It tastes very young and remains extremely disappointing even after sitting in the glass. It's entirely toasted oak with no sweetness whatsoever. It's almost too harsh. I'd advise trying it before purchasing. Two bottles of Vaults 15 2023 offer better value. I don't understand the 90-point rating; it makes me suspect it's influenced more by the brand than the spirit itself. 83-84 points maximum.

About this bottle
Widow Jane's Black Opal release features a blend of 20-year-old straight bourbon whiskeys chosen by Head Distiller and Blender Sienna Jevremov. Following the blending process, the batch was finished in Mizunara oak casks that received a medium toast and light char. Bottled at 99 proof, 5,000 bottles have been produced and are presented in a black steel box. This offering is available in select U.S. markets starting in October 2024, with an SRP of $500.
