Clearly quite young. Strong scents of chemicals and butterscotch contend on the nose. The taste builds to a cinnamon spice before fading to a common burn. Overall, it's not a fantastic bourbon, but it's not completely undrinkable. It could benefit from more time in the cask to mellow the bold youthfulness apparent throughout. Best served over ice.
I'm actually having a good time with this one. It certainly has some youthful intensity that mellows out with a bit of water. The barrel influence is prominent, which could be a turn-off for some, but it suits me at this time of year. It's not overly intricate, but offers wood notes alongside vanilla and caramel. It leaves a pleasant finish after the last taste.
On the nose, it resembles a young Buffalo Trace. Cherry, acetone, vanilla. I detect a prominent rye character with mint and dill, but the body is somewhat thinner, with some classic vanilla notes. I notice some fresh oak, and it definitely tastes young.
Barrel #772 bottled at barrel strength of 112 proof - a special selection from Whole Foods Seattle. Aged around 3 years. Notes of cereal, honey, cherry, and brown butter.
A very strong grain flavor emerges immediately, followed by light spices. Its rich body effectively supports the intensity of the flavor. Chocolate appears near the end.
Nice logo. A respectable local batch whisky. The 50% ABV provides a kick, yet it's unexpectedly less harsh than other spirits with that high ABV level.
