About this bottle

1800 Cristalino Tequila starts as an 1800 Añejo. Initially, the tequila matures for 16 months in new American and French oak barrels. Subsequently, these tequilas are combined and aged for an additional 6 months in ex-port wine barrels. The tequila then undergoes filtration to remove its color. It has been available since August 2020.

As a person from Mexico, I can attest to the genuine quality of this tequila. The aroma is fruity with just a hint of herbaceousness, perfectly balanced with other notes like smoke, minerality, and a slightly musty character. The palate is a sensation, the 6 months in port casks truly shine through. This is a complex spirit as it harmoniously blends the sweetness and raisin notes of port, the herbal and mineral qualities of agave, and the spicy oak and vanilla notes from the initial casks, all enveloped in a subtle, gentle yet significant layer of smoke as the conclusion. Go ahead, friends, it's a reliable purchase.

A refreshing Agave Spirit from NOM:1122 in Jalisco (Los Valles), Mexico. It was made in stainless steel, matured in French and American oak barrels, then finished in port wine casks. After that, it was filtered and bottled at 40% ABV. It starts with a bouquet of cooked agave, wood, soil, orchard fruits, botanicals, and spices. Its intricate middle phase introduces hints of banana, lemon-lime, toffee, nectar, and licorice. It concludes with a swift, smooth finish, featuring notes of charred wood, capsaicin, crème brûlée, a trace of Port wine, and woodsmoke.

This tequila plays tricks on my mind. My brain expects añejo to be colored, so I anticipate brighter citrus and youthful notes, yet I don't find the expected oak characteristics for an añejo. It's a mellow spirit with minimal heat.

Excellent smooth añejo tequila. The charcoal filtering certainly enhances its smoothness while retaining a robust flavor. Among the best for its price point.

I get a hint of herbs, less oak and vanilla, and more sweetness on the palate. The aroma isn't very strong, but it's very smooth.

Louise Ybarra 4.0

Quite pleasant with flavor. A slightly different aftertaste.
