Xicaru Mezcal Reposado looks slightly yellowish and clear, with extremely small sediment particles. The aroma suggests peppery spice and agave juice. The flavor is comparable, with sweetness and almost no smoke. Xicaru Mezcal Reposado has a light body and a mostly-dry finish. RJT

About this bottle
Originating from Matalán in Oaxaca, this mezcal is made entirely from Espadín agave. The agave is cooked in a conical stone oven using mezquite and ocote wood, followed by fermentation in a pine vat. It undergoes double distillation in a copper alembic still and is then rested for two to four months in American oak barrels with a medium toast.

Sweet banana and a smoky aroma. The palate reveals smoke, vanilla, and caramel. The finish is not harsh, leaving a creamy butterscotch sensation. It almost feels buttery.
This is the best mezcal I have tasted so far. It's quite smoky yet incredibly smooth.
It's okay. Not enough smoke. Slightly sweet.
The maturation process resulted in a smoother character.
Smoky as hell
