Windsor

Back in college, my housemates often made the short drive to Windsor. Before we had passports or Canada cards to cross the border, Windsor was the "land of milk and honey" where a freshman could get hammered, gamble, and find a cheap place to sleep for the night. I never went. The thought of downing cheap vodka and hiding in my friend's trunk to get past the border after losing my wallet sounds incredibly wrong. This whiskey gives me the same impression. She's right about the push and pull between sweet and bitter that makes you want to vomit when drinking it straight, before leaving you with that classic chest-hair-growing bitterness and burn at the end. But it does make a decent mixer if you want to add a bit of the devil to a perfectly good Coca-Cola. I own it because a) it was only $3 after a rebate, and b) everyone has that acquaintance who can't appreciate a nice whiskey - this is for that person.

The aroma is cloyingly sweet and strongly alcoholic, although some caramel and a touch of orange emerge beneath. The taste is unexpectedly smooth, with the sweetness continuing through notes of toffee and vanilla, barely hinting at the barrel's influence. 2.5 stars. It's not great, but it's not terrible either. This is an extremely uninteresting whiskey. It begins smoothly, then a cheap whiskey essence arrives rapidly, and just as fast as it appears, it vanishes, leaving Windsor with a gentle spice finish. I'm genuinely taken aback that Windsor tastes this decent considering its low price.

Nose: The initial aroma is very welcoming and sweet. Taste: The palate is also sweet, with a smoothness that was greatly appreciated, especially since this was my very first whisky experience. Opinion: I thoroughly enjoyed this whisky. It was smooth, had no burn, and was excellent for sipping while smoking a pipe on your porch with a companion. Cheers!

Windsor Canadian presents an amber, clear appearance with noticeable alcohol legs. Its scent carries notes of grain alcohol, hints of added flavorings, and possibly rye. The taste mirrors the aroma, and I suspect a touch of white rum additive was used. It has a medium mouthfeel and a moderately extended finish. I rate it "A-" (90/100).

This ranks among the most disgusting things I’ve had the bad luck to drink. It’s quite bland, except for a fake sweetness and a dominant bitterness. Sadly, I must award it.5 stars to distinguish it from spirits that somehow achieve a lower quality
