About this bottle

Darkness 8 Year Single Malt, from Atom Brands, is named for its deep color and is part of a series of Scotch single malt releases characterized by maturation in sherry casks. While numerous single casks have been released under this label previously, the Darkness 8 Year is a consistent offering from an unnamed distillery. Following maturation in ex-bourbon barrels, this single malt is finished for a minimum of three months in small oloroso octave casks.

Legend Mai 4.0

Primarily caramel on the nose, with a touch of vanilla, which is understandable given its caramel nature. The palate offered a blend of sherry, lemon, caramel, and crème brûlée. It was remarkably smooth. The finish lingered for a moderate duration, featuring lemon once more, sherry, and a pleasant sweet spice on the sides of the tongue, distinct from mere alcohol heat. Truly intriguing.

Eden Tomlinson 2.8

Smell: sherry, butterscotch, caramel, orange, citrus, baking spice, creamy. Taste: vanilla, raisin, toffee, pear, dark cherry, a little oak, a little salt, a little metallic. Finish: very short, a little wood, dark cherry.

Bailee Viera 4.5

On the nose: cherry, sugar, orange peel, and a whisper of chocolate. Tastes of sultanas, oak, amaretto, dates, and chocolate. A light smokiness on the finish with more chocolate flavor.

Brayan Killian 3.8

An amazing aroma! Rich, sweet vanilla. It has a nice, oily mouthfeel and a wide range of flavors, primarily sweet notes like caramel and chocolate, leading into a strong finish. The finish is good and lasts a while.

Bennie Nicholas 2.0

The aroma is strongly sweet, like candy, perhaps caramel? However, the finish has a long, harsh alcohol burn. I wouldn't buy this again. From the 2019 Advent calendar, Day 10.

Wilmer Brock 2.5

The aroma has fruity candy, caramel, and I'd contend, some smoke. The taste brings dark cherry, spice, and oak. The conclusion is of moderate length and slightly rough. Won't be buying again.
