About this bottle
George Washington's distillery, dating back to around 1798, has been recreated on its original grounds using archaeological and historical research, with assistance from the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States. In 2012, DISCUS, in collaboration with the Scotch Whisky Association and at the suggestion of The Glenmorangie Co., initiated a symbolic spirit-making endeavor at the distillery. This American single malt, made from 100% Scottish barley sourced from Glenmorangie, is the result of that initial distillation. The Distillers' Reserve represents the entirety of the first distillation run, which produced only 10 gallons in a single distillation. It underwent two years and eight months of aging in ex-bourbon barrels that were re-coopered in Speyside, followed by a four-month finishing period in Madeira wine casks.
