Singleton of Dufftown 15 Year

The aroma offers marzipan and mature fruit, presenting a gentle and warm blend of pineapple, peach, berries, malt biscuits, and cinnamon. A subtle woody and herbal scent lingers in the background. It's not intensely powerful but is pleasing. On the palate, biscuit and mellow malt emerge, consistently paired with fruit and spices, custard, ripe pear, and hazelnuts. A touch of woody astringency is present in the background. The conclusion is rather brief, featuring hazelnuts, malt, and wood. I confess I had preconceived notions, anticipating a delicate and unremarkable spirit, but instead, I encountered a straightforward, unpretentious product. It might be somewhat expensive for its qualities, but it's certainly not bad.

A complex Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Dufftown Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, aged at least 15 years in American Bourbon & European Sherry casks. It presents an aromatic beginning with notes of toffee apples, ripe autumn fruits, red berry, hints of golden syrup, yeast, chestnut & smoke; a rich & spicy middle adds notes of fresh fruits, roasted nuts, vanilla, dried fruits, red apple & oak; leading to a dry, medium-length conclusion with notes of pear, whole grain biscuits, caramel, cinnamon & anise seed. February 2020 / September 2022

Appearance: Dark yellow to amber with thick legs inside the glass. Smell: Toffee, red apples, roasted nuts, and a trace of anise. Taste: Spicy notes, light vanilla, sweet, a nice mouthful of nuts, slight oak and smoke. Finish: The spiciness comes forward, with cinnamon and anise, a medium length. 8 / 10

Nose: sherry notes (nuts, orange peel), sweet honey, and warm spices. Palate: immediate gentle spices, sweetness, which become more prominent at the end but remain mild. Finish: brief. A little underwhelming for my preference. Nutty, spicy. Somewhat thin. A touch of dryness. Almond notes. It's pleasant to sip, but unexciting.

The nose has apple and dried fruits, with caramel and a faint hint of smoke overshadowed by the fruitiness. The taste is surprising – spicy notes appear first, then settle into apple and fruits with undertones of vanilla shortbread. A quick finish leaves fresh green apple on the tongue.

Light, smooth, easy to drink. Fruity on the nose, on the palate, apple, vanilla, mild spices, dry notes, possibly from the wood. Fruity finish, slightly dry and woody.
