Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon

I really enjoy every expression of Wild Turkey. This single-barrel bottle is nearing its end, so I decided to log my thoughts for the third time, which align with my previous notes from July 7, 2022, and October 20, 2022. The color is a clear, light mahogany. Aromas of orange peel, apple pie, vanilla, sweet tea, honey, and red hots. The mid-palate offers pleasant oaky vanilla, with hints of tobacco and leather. The 101 proof is noticeable but very smooth and well-integrated. The dustiness I noted before now leans more towards char. Overall, it's a sweet, easy-drinking bourbon with a nice balance of Wild Turkey's signature rye spice. Bottled on April 30, 2020, from barrel 1448, stored in Warehouse A, rick 37. 101 proof. All spirits were tasted neat in a Glencairn glass.

Barrel no 2085, warehouse ty-g, rick 41. The color is a very pale amber gold. It rests for a few minutes in a glencairn. A swirl shows it has some body. The nose is buttery sweet cinnamon and perhaps a scent like dusty wood chips. A great start. The taste is buttery toffee, creamy vanilla, and dry Wild Turkey fruit. The finish is solid but not lengthy; there's very little burn but a pleasant warm sensation. As a Wild Turkey enthusiast, it meets all the criteria and is worth the approximately $25 increase from the WT 101, which remains a favorite for daily drinking. It's probably not quite as exceptional as the RR Single Barrel or Rare Breed, but the difference is minor at this point. My only regret is waiting so long to try it. Cheers!

Barrel 2414 Warehouse A, Rick 29 Bottled on 6-24-21 A copper hue. The aroma is rich with vanilla, honey, ground cinnamon, allspice, and faint traces of leather and spearmint. A warm, full-bodied texture. The taste is an explosion of cinnamon with notes of ground cinnamon and warm cinnamon rolls topped with vanilla icing, alongside toasted walnuts, ground nutmeg, and a bit of caramel and tannic oak. The finish is short to medium and warm, dominated by baking spices, with vanilla, brown sugar, and subtle roasted peanuts in the background.

Nose: limestone, pear, baking spice, cigar box Taste: All the flavors from the nose are present but intensified - wow! - a rush of heat, cherry & limestone with subtle wood and a slightly chemical/medicinal note on the finish. With a cube: Nicer fruit flavors softened initially, the finish is more cherry and less harsh. I'll need to compare this with the Rare Breed, but I don't recall such intense aftertastes on that one and might prefer that one slightly more.

Nose: A good amount of oak Palate: Strong baking spices including cinnamon and pepper with a small hint of vanilla Finish: On my first sip the spice transitioned into a vanilla sweetness that floated up my palate. It's a product from that well-known Kentucky distillery! Bottled at 101 proof, this single barrel felt a bit thin but was decent for sipping. However, it doesn't compel me to revisit it frequently.

(Keep in mind that all Single Barrel bourbon expressions can differ) …Personally, I detect a lot of tobacco throughout the entire palate and sweet cherry wood oak on the finish! That's almost all I get besides the typical notes of vanilla and caramel. I truly wish I had a cigar to pair with this because that combination would be amazing! It's not a bad bourbon at all.
