Caldera Distilling is situated in River John, Nova Scotia, Canada. An inscription reading “October 18, 1939 Storm” was discovered on a beam in an old barn on the property. This reference is to a hurricane that struck eastern Canada on that date, logged as Hurricane #5, the fifth storm of the 1939 Atlantic hurricane season, which inspired the whisky's name decades later. The fate of the individual who recorded the event remains unknown. This whisky is available in Canada.

Had the opportunity to sample this at an event. The aroma is intense, almost like moonshine. However, upon tasting, delightful warm caramel notes emerge. It's quite good and a pleasant surprise on the palate.
Mickey. Soft and sweet were the most apparent qualities. It would serve well as a table whiskey for sharing. Quite easy to enjoy over ice.
It improves with time, but overall it feels disappointing. The aroma is somewhat harsh, but the finish provides a mild warmth.
A surprisingly sweet and mild Canadian whiskey, which somehow brings rum to mind. Enjoyable.
