About this bottle

This single malt, while not adhering to the traditional Scottish definition, utilizes exclusively malted grains from the distillery. Over seventy-eight percent of the malted grains consist of barley, wheat, and rye, with some barley undergoing cherrywood smoking and another portion featuring chocolate malt barley. Maturation occurs in two sizes of new American oak barrels (25 and 30 gallons), charred to a level #3.

Nose: Grain notes are prominent initially, clearly highlighting the malts, followed by fresh peanuts and a whisper of chocolate. Palate: Arrives with a gentle sweetness, vanillins, mild oak, and chocolate undertones. Adding a small amount of water enhances the variety of grains. Finish: Begins with notes of chili peppers, a slight alcoholic sting that subsides into soft baking spices. A long-lasting finish.

I suspect I received a flawed bottle; I opened this after touring the distillery and it smelled of spoiled vegetables, which is precisely how it tasted. It was batch 22. Considering the positive feedback it has garnered, I believe I've encountered a 'skunked' bottle, but I don't think what I have should be presented as edible.

Leo Moreland 4.0

A substantial malt whiskey, featuring fudge, a trace of smoke, fresh malt, cherry, abundant spice, young yet distinct and skillfully made. The accompanying tag indicates 3 distinct barley malts, malted wheat, and malted rye.

Lillie Giles 3.0

Sweet....almost excessively so. Notes of chocolate.

Leslie Woodall 1.0

Leather, cinnamon, reminiscent of scotch
