The scent is herbal, medicinal, with faint peat and wood notes. The flavor is spicy, but a gentle, smoldering kind of spice, with a bitter and persistent aftertaste. Perhaps ginger? Smoke is the dominant top note, quite rich, carrying the flavor through a lengthy finish.

About this bottle
The third edition of Westland's Solum was produced similarly to the previous version but was matured for an additional year. The peat used in this expression was harvested approximately 2 hours south of Seattle in a sustainable manner to ensure the bog's future health. Utilizing 100% Skagit Valley Malting peated malted barley for distillation, it was subsequently aged in a mix of new and used casks, including refill Westland casks. Globally, only 5,700 bottles are available, with a launch in key markets commencing in January 2025. (SRP $149.99/700ml)
