Union Extra Turfado

Aroma: Peaty, sweet, vanilla, ash, extinguished campfire, ham (or smoked meat), fruity (pears, yellow fruits), pronounced citrus (something like pineapple), freshness, and malt. Some alcohol is present but not overpoweringly distracting. Palate: Sweetness, malt, good spice, charcoal, campfire ash, smoky (again, ham or other smoked meat), pungent, citrus, robust bitterness, vanilla, alcohol, and good oiliness. Finish: Medium to short, with alcohol warmth, spiciness, bitterness, and smokiness strongly present in the aftertaste. Like all peated whiskies, the smoke lingers longer than other flavors, but the bitterness here persists alongside the peat. Overall Impressions: What a pleasure! A domestic whisky of exceptional quality, it rivals Scottish productions. If maritime notes were present, one might mistake it for an Islay whisky. The Union Extra Turfado is smooth, balanced, and extremely pleasing to both palate and nose. The alcohol, though noticeable, is not intrusive. It offers excellent value for money. Peated whisky enthusiasts will be satisfied; beginners to the world of peat will find it approachable, as the Extra Turfado has a very gentle and soft smokiness. I recommend letting it rest in the glass for about 5 minutes before tasting; it will significantly enhance the experience.

Light yellow, clear. Slightly citrus notes, with light pineapple and honey. Alcohol is quite firm and more aggressive than expected. Smoke is not much different from typical peat.

Smoky, but not intensely so. Sweet, with honey and vanilla. Short on the palate.

Made in Brazil, but tastes like Scotland!! Delicious
