This surprisingly smooth Laphroaig sits between the barbecued fruit notes of the recent 15-year-old and the robust character of the 18-year-old. It's a silky dram, more characteristic of the distillery than the 15, but less intense than the 10 or 18. Even for those of us who enjoy a challenge, it's a pleasure to witness Laphroaig's more alluring side. Sampled at Chami Bar in Davos.

Nose offers smoke, the seaside, and baked goods, united by a faint fruity sweetness and woody earthiness; Mouthfeel presents seaside notes, succulent fruit, and mild sweetness alongside barley water and a coppery tang; The end brings a prominent smoke with subtle sweet and earthy tones.
A solid single malt! For those who enjoy smoky whisky, which I do. It consistently has a pleasing strength.
Excellent.
