Uncle Nearest Uncut/Unfiltered Straight Rye Whiskey

The aroma is rich with warming, evocative spices. Bold rye notes appear immediately, leading to a bright and lively start. The flavor profile resides centrally on the palate, with tastes reminiscent of a sunlit afternoon in a rustic barn. Notes of grain, corn, rye, wood, caramel, toffee, and tobacco are present. The finish is extended, with gentle sweet traces softly bidding farewell. An excellent addition to the Uncle Nearest collection, showcasing the talent of Victoria Eady Butler. Enjoyable. I wanted a stronger grassy taste given it's pure rye, but it's quite nice. It feels slick and substantial. Comforting. Sugary. I can't detect the professional tasting notes, aside from perhaps a buttery quality or hints of clove and cinnamon. The conclusion has a bubblegum essence. Compared directly to the original Uncle Nearest, I found an excess of cherry in this one.

This is a well-balanced rye, slightly different from what I typically expect from a rye whiskey, but highly enjoyable. If you're seeking something a bit unconventional in a rye, don't overlook this one.
