TX Blended Whiskey

The aroma and taste are like cream soda, but sweeter. It's as welcoming and easygoing as that sounds. This would be an excellent starting point for whiskey, especially among American blends. However, seasoned whiskey fans will likely find it dull, lacking complexity and with a flavor that disappears fast. In that sense, "thin" is fitting, and it's almost a single-note whiskey. But once more, it's remarkably smooth and budget-friendly.

I've heard descriptions of vanilla and birthday cake notes in whiskey before, but I've never encountered whiskeys with those characteristics. This one delivers those flavors powerfully, making it polarizing. I personally enjoy the vanilla present and am impressed it was achieved without additives. It's an excellent dessert whiskey, but you might be quite let down if you're seeking traditional bourbon flavors.

From the bar. (Pronounced T-X, not Texas. My apologies to the person who poured it.) Smells sweet and mild. Vanilla cream, chocolate-covered cherries, and a whisper of almond. Feels a bit young. Taste echoes the almond notes, adding cookie dough ice cream on top. Not very complicated with a brief conclusion. Pretty good. It’s an acceptable drink for hanging out and worth sampling, but it likely won’t become a regular for me.

First tried this at the distillery. Bought a bottle because its distinct vanilla notes were so compelling and for experimentation. The bouquet is not very intricate but is dominated by vanilla, with a bit of sharp alcohol character present. The palate is where this bottle gets interesting. It strongly resembles a premium vanilla extract, but in a good way. The body is light and it finishes quickly with sweetness. It's enjoyable to use in mixed drinks.

Nose: Caramel and cream soda. Quite distinctive. Palate: Overwhelmingly vanilla icing, resembling custard or crème brûlée. No other significant flavors. Overall: This is incredibly easy to drink. Exceptionally distinctive, it could almost be mistaken for a vanilla-flavored whiskey. I'm a big fan and plan to have this as a dessert drink. While it lacks complexity, its flavor profile compensates for it.

Butterscotch sweetness hits the nose. The taste brings crème brûlée, vanilla, and finishes with odd burnt popcorn. Oak is absent, and knowing about the other grain spirit explains its very light character. I tried this in Texas, but this whiskey won't be getting another pour from me.
