Tres Agaves Tequila Blanco

I really like this one. It has a trace of that spun sugar/grape taste that I detect very strongly in Casamigos reposado. But this is not a reposado, so it shouldn't have any barrel aging influence... and it's supposedly without additives (perhaps even more so since I just noticed mine is the organic version of the blanco). Whatever the reason, it's much better balanced, less overpowering, and more complete here. There's a complex background of other elements, ranging from floral to tropical notes. Truly enjoying this one, after several occasions of sipping it.

Nose: Faint cooked agave, earthy mushroom notes, a hint of oily cooked bell pepper and green onion, with a mild ethanol sting. Palate: Sweet cooked agave, black pepper, nutmeg, earthy mushroom, stewed vegetables, a slight alcohol bite, and a quick finish with fading sweetness and vegetal/fungal undertones. Not ideal for sipping. It mixes acceptably, though less effectively than more affordable options like Olmeca Altos. The flavors are delicate and not fully cohesive. It's certainly not awful, but I won't be buying it again.

Excellent agave aroma and flavor, featuring notes of fresh and cooked agave. Good balance of vegetal, mineral, herbal, and sweet elements. Light pepper spice and a hint of green olive. Very smooth with a full body and minimal alcohol burn. A nice medium finish. I'm pleased I tried it while it was on sale.

The nose is very fruity and sweet. This fruity sweetness carries to the palate, with citrus notes and nothing unpleasant. It's sweeter than the reposado and lacks the bourbon flavor. A really enjoyable tequila.

Not my top choice. It has a slight burn going down. There are definitely better tequilas available in this price bracket. It's acceptable for a margarita.

My new go-to for Margaritas! It complements the spicy version I create at home.
