The name, “Three Rivers Wheated Bourbon,” is only half accurate. It does taste like I imagine bottled river water would, but calling it bourbon is an affront to other spirits with that designation. It has the aroma of cardboard and alcohol, with tastes of paper, raw oats, and grass. The grassy flavor lingers on your palate for a while. The best aspect of this whiskey is that someone else bought it. I'm happy I had the opportunity to try it before spending my own money. I would not purchase this.
I find this Bourbon to be quite smooth and mellow, with oak complemented by hints of vanilla and pepper. The buyers at Costco consistently make excellent selections, and this is another one of them.
It has a slight woody flavor, but the taste is otherwise good and it's easy to drink.
Certainly young.
