Initial green agave notes evolve into roasted agave, cinnamon, mild oak, a very subtle char, apricot, and traces of vanilla. The finish follows with vanilla and mild cinnamon, lasting from short to medium and leaving a floral, tingly sensation. I suspect the less intense flavors stem from its younger age, but it's by no means dull. It's packed with flavor, relying less on caramel, oak, and vanilla. This is a wonderfully vibrant reposado.

About this bottle
This reposado tequila is a component of Tequila Ocho's Barrel Select program, which involves choosing specific casks for maturation. It is crafted from single estate agave sourced from Rancho El Nacimiento, a field operated by the family of Tequila Ocho co-founder Carlos Camarena in Jalisco. Traditional methods, including brick ovens and wooden fermenters, are employed in its production. The chosen maturation vessels are ex-bourbon barrels from Brooklyn's Widow Jane Distillery. The tequila rests in these barrels for eight weeks and eight days before being bottled at 91 proof. With 1,000 cases produced, it became available in select US markets starting in October 2022 with a $74.99 suggested retail price.
