Richly presented, featuring a prominent oak-forward and vegetal aroma. Subtle notes of vanilla and freshly cut wood are also noticeable. An exceptional entry on the palate with agave sweetness like nectar, warm vanilla bean flavors, and an almost creamy texture. The body is quite full with a smoothness not seen in other tequilas we've sampled. This is a result of the skillful blending and the use of a broad range of barrels. Among all the Patron expressions, this particular bottling stands out above the rest. One of the most delightful tequilas we've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

About this bottle
Patrón El Alto is a premium 100% blue weber tequila from the brand, combining reposado, añejo, and extra añejo expressions. Master Distiller David Rodriguez and his team perfected this blend, using eleven types of barrels, predominantly hybrid ones with American oak bodies and French oak heads. A significant portion of the tequila was produced using a tahona, a two-ton volcanic stone, for crushing the baked agaves. El Alto became available in select US markets, including New York, Miami, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, starting in November 2022, with a suggested retail price of $179.

While Clase Azul might still be my preferred Reposado, this is a very close second. This spirit is clear, leading me to initially think I'd mistakenly purchased a blanco. However, the taste indicates aging or blending with an extra añejo. It's an incredibly smooth tequila with no heat. The agave is present but not overwhelming, unlike some other tequilas. Clase has a bit more flavor, so if this lacks sufficient punch for you, try that one.
“...made from Extra Añejo… and mixed with outstanding Añejo and Reposado tequilas...”. Setting the marketing aside, what exactly is this?
Pleasant and smooth. Delicious.
