Ginger Fairchild 4.0

Tequila Ocho, Plata. Single estate, La Canada, 2022, Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. Master Distiller Carlos Camarena. Bottle no. 32,207, 40% abv. $46+. Nose: floral citrus, bitter lime peel, sweet fruit, agave, and mineral. Palate: intense minerals and salinity hit first, followed by roasted agave, spicy grass, and pepper. It is dry, not sweet, with a thin mouthfeel. The finish is long with dry alkaline mineral, pepper, and a hint of bitter mint. Features very complex flavors, not entirely harmonious, but it is intriguing. I will explore this further and update my review--giving it a generous 3.75 for now. Possibly a 4.

Carly Kline 4.5

For a blanco, Tequila Ocho - La Canada delivers extreme complexity. Prominent aromas of smoke, raw and cooked agave, bitters, citrus and ripened fruits follow suit with similar flavor profiles that add mineralogy and dry and oily mouthfeels with spice. It also tends to have an almost ferrous aroma and flavor for a split second at the front.

Robin Huynh 4.3

Aroma: Citrus, cooked agave, olive brine Palate: Orange peel, peppercorns, herbs.

Catalina Goetz 3.3

The aroma is not too strong. It feels light in the mouth and is mellow.

Trenton Childs 3.8
