About this bottle

Tequila Chamucos originated with three friends—a film director, a caricaturist, and an entrepreneur—who initially acquired tequila for their personal enjoyment. Now accessible to the public, this 100% agave tequila is made in Jalisco Alto. The blanco variant uses agave harvested between 8 and 10 years old, with piñas steamed in a brick oven and distilled using stainless-steel column stills. It is bottled unaged directly after distillation. An interesting detail: the original packaging includes cut-outs that can be assembled into three-dimensional figures. It contains no additives.

Kash Wilkins 2.5

It smells like tequila, with lime, savory vegetal notes, and a hint of sweetness. The palate is very mineral-forward and surprisingly sweet. It's reminiscent of Herradura Blanco, but fruitier and sweeter. Pineapple and lime are definitely present, and there's a subtle spice that is well-managed. There's a touch of smoke and earthy stewed agave, but these elements are less pronounced than expected. Perhaps it's earthiness rather than smoke. It also has vegetal notes like bell peppers. While it has many components, they aren't perfectly integrated. The flavor is good enough for mixing and it's barely (very barely) sippable on its own.

A Silver artisan Agave Spirit from NOM 1414. It begins delicately with notes of agave, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices. Its tropical maturity introduces coconut & mango notes, leading to a balanced, medium-length finish with a hint of pepper. May 2017

I typically do not drink Blanco neat (or use it in cocktails). This tequila was somewhat disappointing, likely due to its lack of aging. I intend to make drinks with this now that I have sampled it straight.

This always leaves a distinct bell pepper sensation on my palate. While not unpleasant and it would actually be excellent in a Bloody Maria or with Ancho Reyes, it's not my top choice on its own.

Annalise Collazo 3.5

The nose presents smoke, orange, and pepper, along with agave. The palate brings vanilla, a rich gravy-like flavor, and Swiss cheese. It's quite complex on the palate for me, but overall, it's delicious.

Adela Brennan 3.5

Aromas of smoke, rich gravy, aged cheese, potent agave, and dust. The palate is semi-sweet, vegetal, and peppery.
