Located in Frederick City's former Tenth Ward, the woman-owned Tenth Ward Distilling in Maryland produces Absinthe Nouvelle. This spirit is recognized as the state's inaugural absinthe crafted in the French style. Beyond the essential anise, fennel, and grand wormwood, the distillation incorporates botanicals such as star anise, chrysanthemum, and mace. Following distillation, the absinthe achieves its natural coloration from petite wormwood, lemon balm, hyssop, and bergamot orange.
