Copper & Kings Blanche Absinthe

A layered, botanical aperitif or cordial from Copper & Kings Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. It's double-distilled from exceptionally aromatic wine using Vendome copper pot stills, infused with traditional botanicals like anise, fennel, and wormwood. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at 65% ABV. Its aromatic start features notes of candied licorice. A creamy and fruity development follows with hints of apple, golden raisin, must, and tobacco, leading to a smooth and earthy conclusion with notes of cinnamon, black pepper, mint, orange zest, and copper. March / April 2021.

I purchased this partly because I appreciate Copper & Kings in cocktails and also because I really liked the bottle; however, they later changed the bottle design (giving it three stars because I dislike the new bottle). This absinthe performs well in a Sazerac at a more reasonable price than many well-known absinthe brands.

This is my first absinthe, so take this with a grain of salt, but the 130 proof and the very strong flavor profile make this a distinctive beverage that is great for sipping or perfect in a cocktail. That is, if you really like black licorice.
