About this bottle

The second annual release of Stranahan's Diamond Peak, this limited edition bottling showcases a unique cask finish. Stranahan's begins with its Colorado single malt whiskey, made from 100% malted barley and aged 5-8 years in virgin American oak barrels with a #3 char. This whiskey is then finished for an additional two years in barrels that previously held Jose Cuervo's Reserva de la Familia Extra Añejo Tequila. Availability commenced in March 2023 through online sales, the distillery, and select Colorado retailers, with a broader national rollout planned.

Jerry Mckenna 3.0

The nose and palate are strongly dominated by tequila. Agave and spearmint notes are prominent on the nose, with a hint of vanilla. The palate has some single malt sweetness, but it's subtle and overshadowed by agave, pepper, and oak spice. The lengthy finish brings more tequila and spice. Ultimately, there's too much tequila and not enough single malt.

Roy Talbot 3.8

I really liked this. The tequila influence is most noticeable on the finish.
