About this bottle

Star of Bombay London Dry Gin was initially available in global travel retail in 2015 before broadening its distribution worldwide, though it is not presently sold in the U.S. It incorporates the same ten botanicals as Bombay Sapphire but features different varieties of coriander and angelica, along with three types of juniper berries. The recipe also includes bergamot and ambrette seed. The gin is named after the Star of Bombay, a 182-carat sapphire from Sri Lanka gifted to silent film star Mary Pickford by her husband Douglas Fairbanks, Sr.; she later donated the jewel to the Smithsonian, where it is now housed in the National Museum of Natural History.

Carlos Camarena 3.0

More pronounced, with greater citrus presence and sharper juniper, and less oily than the standard version. Slightly too sharp for my preference, though not as biting as another specific brand. Priced at $50 in Ontario.

Frederic Pryor 3.5

It doesn't overwhelm with flavor like some other gins, but offers subtle nuances. A decent gin, though personally, I don't find it justifies its price.

Bradley Mcghee 4.0

Acceptable, though a little expensive considering it's still essentially a Bombay Sapphire at its core, just enhanced and slightly improved.

Cameron Blue 5.0

I really like this spirit. The vapor infusion process gives it a slight edge in mouthfeel when used as a martini base. An excellent high-end gin.

Spencer Crews 3.5

This is a decent version of Bombay Sapphire, but it didn't really stand out to me.

Ida Robinson 4.3

Refined yet still flavorful, a masterpiece of simplicity that continues to offer complex undertones.
