Sullivan Blevins 4.5

This spirit comes from a distillery on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, located roughly 3 hours north of my residence. Unsurprisingly, their products have improved significantly since they opened, and I've been very pleased with the recent ones I've sampled. They utilize locally sourced grain, in this instance, unmalted barley, with the coordinates of the field where the grain was grown printed on the bottle, which enhances its appeal. It's bottled at 46% ABV with no added color. Some research indicates it's around 5.5 years old and matured in French and American oak. Bottle number 372 out of 2388. Nose: Initially, notes of toasted oak and grain are present. Following that are hints of almond and vanilla, reminiscent of breakfast cereal. A subtle caramel note emerges at the end. Palate: The initial taste brings a rather sharp alcohol sensation, but this quickly transitions into a full-bodied flavor experience. A surprisingly pleasant sweetness appears, rich with dried fruit, oak, and vanilla! It almost suggests a wine cask finish, but it could simply be the French oak. Finish: It's long and satisfying with a pleasant oily texture. A continued warmth is felt across the entire hard palate as well as the middle of the soft palate, with a lingering tannic sensation on the tongue. Overall, it possesses great, full flavors and meets the expectations I now have for releases from Shelter Point. What's also very cool, in addition to its deliciousness, is that it's entirely a local product. I highly recommend it.

Madisyn Hernandez 4.5

This is a remarkable whisky considering its cost and age. The flavor is profound and rich, with a pleasant finish. I detect notes of hazelnut, vanilla, and dried fruits, with oak on the finish.

Smooth and full of flavor. Notes of caramel and vanilla with a distinct minerality. Highly adaptable.
