During a blind tasting of nine gins on April 20, 2019, this was the final gin. It might have been affected by tired palates by the end. It tied for second place that day. The group's impressions were very similar. Perhaps the high alcohol content concealed finer details, emphasizing only the most prominent characteristics. My notes mentioned a strong juniper and citrus scent, matched by an equally robust flavor. Everyone recognized it as a high-proof spirit, with estimates between 50-60% alcohol. A distinct anise and licorice note was present in both the aroma and taste. Two individuals perceived a tannic quality, suggesting it might be lightly barrel-aged, which it is not. I found it to be potent and direct, with a clear profile rather than one with many layers, but it mixed exceptionally well with tonic, seeming almost impossible to dilute its flavor.

Brianne Burdick 4.5

An exceptional Gin. It boasts a fantastic citrus blend, with the juniper and other botanicals perfectly balancing the flavor. However, the liquid in this stunning bottle is potent. I understand it's a "Navy Strength" gin, but my initial sip was intense. This isn't to say it was bad, but I'm not accustomed to drinking very high-proof gin, so it was powerful. When I mixed it into a Gin and Tonic, the citrus notes became prominent, making it seem like a different beverage entirely. When I prepared a martini with it, I found it required a full measure of vermouth. I typically use a half measure, but the flavor was off. Using a full measure of Noilly Prat extra dry vermouth resulted in the best martini I've ever had. I strongly endorse this Gin, though it comes at a premium price. If you appreciate Gin, particularly those with more citrus notes, this will be a winner. Update: My local store now stocks this regularly, making it my go-to fancy gin for the holidays. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

Excellent spirit that recently earned the top London Dry Gin award among 600 competitors at the IWSC. One of the few I found easy and enjoyable to consume neat, and it's 57% ABV! Produced in my hometown of Christchurch, NZ. Strong citrus presence, perfect thick texture, and a lingering finish.

Kolby Quinlan 4.5

A wonderfully mellow high-proof gin that shines in a gin and tonic.

Eloise Holt 4.0

Rich, delicate, peppery. Minimal juniper. Harmonious.

Finley Brewer 1.0

Enjoyable but not for me, it opens up on the palate with cherry notes.
