About this bottle
The 2015 release of Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old, part of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection, marks the conclusion of a brief period. Buffalo Trace had been storing this spirit in a stainless steel tank for several years to halt its aging, drawing from it annually for this bottling. Consequently, this whiskey, presented at 90 proof, is older than 18 years, though that is the duration it spent in the barrel. A completely different batch is planned for next year, making this an opportune moment to revisit and assess this release against the upcoming one.

Nose presents brown sugar and vanilla with a hint of burning. A wave of rye is overcome by oak, followed by a spike in burn. Finishes pleasantly with brown sugar.
Everything one could desire in an 18-year-old Rye. Astonishingly smooth and sweet. The description is accurate! Cheers!
From the Spring 2015 bottling. Fantastic overall—a well-balanced finish with oak and spice.
The last of the original distillate. The 2016 BTAC Sazerac will be a Buffalo Trace product.
One of the finest ryes I've ever had! Smooth from start to finish. Caramel notes.
