A bit of hazelnut. This is a rich bourbon. Slightly bready. A subtle hint of citrus zest. Spicy wood. Clearly detects both corn and rye grain. Finish: begins with a brief chocolate note, then fades into a mildly spicy, warm oak tannic sensation. After a few minutes post-sipping, and with added water, a distinct eucalyptus/herbal note remains on the tongue.

The aroma is reminiscent of mulled fruit punch, with apples and cherries. Hints of vanilla, ginger, and toffee are also present. Spice and cinnamon greet the palate first, transitioning to fruity notes. The finish is intense, initially overwhelmed by chilies and black pepper, then yielding to mint and iced tea. This might benefit from some dilution. With added water, molasses joins the cherry and apple scents. The palate becomes sweeter, and the finish is less fiery and smoother.
