Jessie Merchant 3.5

My knowledge of sake is limited, so I decided to try something new instead of the usual warm variety offered at hibachi restaurants. This was served chilled and tasted quite smooth. It has the typical rice wine flavor but with subtle fruity undertones. The sweetness was mild, and a slight nutty note was also noticeable. Overall, it was good and paired well with the food.

It's a bit thin but also refreshingly sharp. There's a subtle chocolate flavor that, combined with the sharpness, gives it a taste like South American chocolate mixed with Madagascar chocolate. It's somewhat dull. The alcohol is more noticeable than it should be, especially since this doesn't have a very high ABV.

Rating: 12/23 It has less flavor and more alcohol than Sho Chiku Bai Nigori. It's somewhat creamy, but in a diluted milk sort of way. It has a mild nutty character (a little almond). The bitter finish isn't great. I could drink this, but I wouldn't enjoy it. The visible organic particles are not very appealing.
