Roseisle 12 Year The Origami Kite (2023 Special Release)

This is another 20 cl bottle, and I've sampled this one a bit before. Aroma - Rich oak is very prominent here. There's an interesting interplay, dare I say, of white chocolate with oak over a variety of fruits that are struggling to make their presence known. Perhaps a lemon loaf is present, certainly a mild citrus note tempered by initial bourbon vanilla notes. It's simple, rich, and well-crafted. Taste - This is simply a good malt and well-selected casks. If one were to introduce a malt in its pure form to the market, this is an excellent example. It's evident that Diageo is very proud of this distillery's current output. While it's not outstanding or exceptional, it's such a pleasant malt that it could easily be used in blends or finished/matured in more interesting casks to enhance the malt. Slightly citrus on the front, then bringing in oak tannins and vanilla. It's straightforward, very straightforward. But as I noted with the aroma, it's exceptionally well-crafted. The combination of citrus with white chocolate, vanilla, and impressively good oak notes is excellent. I'm awarding a 'geek bonus,' bumping the score to 3.0. I could go as high as 3.25. It's not amazing, but if you enjoy whisky, you will appreciate this.

The aroma and taste are rather subdued, with a hint of fruit appearing at the end, which is lengthy and moderately warming.
