About this bottle

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Yamazaki Distillery's establishment in 1923, The House of Suntory introduced two new limited edition whiskies in spring 2023. Founded in 1923, Yamazaki holds the distinction of being Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery. This particular Yamazaki expression underwent maturation for a minimum of 18 years exclusively in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, a material the brand began experimenting with in the 1940s. This bottling is part of a series of whiskies scheduled for release in 2023, becoming available in select global markets within the US, UK, Europe, and Asia from May 2023. (SRP $1,500)

Incredible. This easily surpasses the 2017 edition. It strongly evokes Japan. Nose: Ginger, White Chocolate, Strawberries, Sandalwood, Brown Sugar, Honey, Oranges, Plums, Lychees, Sakura, Roses, Leather, Marshmallows, Pineapples, Coconuts, Figs, Brown Butter Palate: Honey, Raisins, Coconut, Sandalwood, Brown Sugar, Milk Chocolate, Peaches, Apricots, Strawberries, Mocha, Nutmeg, Brown Butter, Bubble Gum, Walnuts, Seville Oranges, Hazelnuts Finish: Marshmallows, Sandalwood, Honey, Gingerbread, Apricots, Oranges, Leather, Grilled Pineapples, Caramelized White Chocolate
