Blackened Cask Strength Volume 1

Aroma - The brandy barrel is very prominent. There are some rye spices present but I can't quite identify them. Very subtle smell. Also detecting a white wine-like note as it opens up. Taste - Shows a lot of youthfulness. Plenty of fruits come forward, with a sharp wood presence. The alcohol is actually quite noticeable, but it's pleasant, honestly. Overall - The palate is a bit unfocused. The alcohol's warmth actually helps this whiskey maintain balance, though. There's a point around mid-palate where there's an imbalance between the fruit and the oak, but the alcohol helps bring it back, preventing it from straying too far. The finish starts off drying but then transitions to a sweet, fruity conclusion. Intriguing, to say the least. Drinks well at its stated proof. Appropriately priced. I can see this being used to create an interesting Old Fashioned.

Excellent. The standard Blackened was previously the best celebrity-backed whiskey I'd tried. Until this one came along. It has spice and is very sweet. It's strong, but not overwhelmingly so for being 120 proof. There's something in it for everyone. This is fantastic. Get one if you can find it. It's very good.
